Production Cluster Lead I
This role leads all operations activities for packaging for lines 8 and 9, end-to-end (E2E) core operations within assigned cluster(s). This role leads multi-skilled employees (20-30 direct reports) to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective production operations, including all shifts within cluster(s) team and being the point of contact during off-shift operation in OTC and Nutritional factories at the Myerstown site. The role also requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a focus on driving innovation, cost efficiency, and digitalization. This role must provide strong leadership and coaching and development for high performing autonomous teams with a culture based on the Bayer DSO( Dynamic Shared Ownership) principles.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Team Leadership:
- Act as VACC (Visionary, Architect, Coach and Catalyst) to build, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of operators, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment. Establish target outcomes, priorities and coordinate talent flow to maximize organizational impact. The incumbent demonstrates, credibly embodies and showcases VACC leadership.
- People Development:
- Build a diverse, inclusive talent pool where members share and support each other to build their expertise; recruit, hire, and onboard new employees, based on team requirements.
- Foster culture of transparency of priorities and metrics empowering every team and employee to take accountability to operate as high performing teams. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment where employees feel valued and engaged.
- Coach and mentor the teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvements, learning and acceleration of PSS initiatives including being proactive in providing development experience to talents.
- Identify upskilling training needs and develop or source training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the operations cluster teams.
- Develop and maintain high performing autonomous teams with higher level of self-organization and proactive culture that accentuates continuous improvement principles.
- End-to-End Supply Performance:
- Take full accountability for the performance of the assigned cluster operations budget, service levels, and execution of Product Supply Systems (PSS) and digitalization initiatives.
- Provide technical and non-technical leadership to all aspects of the end-to-end (E2E) manufacturing and/or packaging processes and ensure adherence to schedule attainment, service levels and cost-efficient operations.
- Provide technical expertise for assigned cluster(s) and resolve problems such as equipment breakdown, low efficiencies, scheduling conflicts, material movement issues and employee performance and drive appropriate corrective / preventive actions.
- Evaluate equipment needs and lead operational procedures and batch records.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, reduce waste, and improve performance.
- Identify and address operational barriers and production challenges that impact efficiency and quality.
- Manage, coordinate and directly supervise non-exempt production resources, ensuring availability to meet production schedules and budgetary commitments
- Supervise multi-skilled personnel, to ensure that performance meets established safety, quality, compliance Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), delivery and cost standards.
- Drive PSS and Factory of Future (digitalization) initiatives within cluster(s) team to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase production capacity while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, GMP standards, and industry best practices across manufacturing and/or packaging processes and facilities for assigned cluster(s).
- Drive the implementation of electronic batch records systems (MES). Lead efforts to optimize and maintain electronic batch record processes, ensuring that they are streamlined and effective. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of electronic records.
- Drive the continuous improvement mindset within the team. Conduct thorough investigations into deviations and process issues to determine root causes. Develop and implement robust corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to address these issues.
- Participate in regular internal and external audits to maintain compliance and address any discrepancies.
- Performance Metrics:
- Develop and track KPIs to evaluate the end-to-end (E2E) performance of manufacturing and/or packaging processes within assigned cluster(s). KPIs should measure aspects like asset utilization, production efficiency, and quality metrics.
- Use performance data to make informed decisions aimed at optimizing operations. Focus on leveraging data to drive improvements and achieve productivity goals.
- Drive the program for continuous process monitoring, of process performance. Regularly analyze operational data to assess how well processes are performing.
- Identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization based on the analysis of process data. Implement strategies to address these issues and improve overall efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with various departments including supply chain, operational excellence, engineering, maintenance, core operations, quality, controlling, manufacturing IT, CoE Hubs, HR, and others to ensure smooth and effective collaboration. Aim to maximize efficiency and performance through cohesive teamwork and alignment of objectives across all functions.
- Close collaboration with supply chain function to understand the customers demands, production schedules. Optimize manufacturing and/or packaging resource utilization accordingly.
- Work with supply chain and controlling functions to update the cost standards for all manufacturing and/or packaging processes across assigned cluster(s) product categories.

WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required:

- Multifunctional and deep experience of complex manufacturing, packaging or supply chain management in the consumer and/or pharmaceutical industry.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Thorough knowledge of solid dosage & liquid manufacturing and packaging operations.
- Experience in successful organizational transformation and change management initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Exceptional people leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Preferred:

- 6/8/10 years of leadership/production/supervisory experience in FDA, pharmaceutical industry is preferred, or Associates degree with a minimum of 8/10/12 years of experience is preferred;
- Master's degree in Manufacturing; Engneering, Suplly Chain or Operation Ecellence.
