Field Agronomist (Petit) 

 

Job Purpose:

  • Conduct allocated trials safely, efficiently, and to a high standard to provide usable data for the registration of new and existing active substances/products and validate proof of concept projects. 

 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks: 

  • Provide knowledge and observations from field trials to Agronomic Solutions Managers (ASM) by continuously updating the Scientific Outlook (SCOUT) program throughout the season. 
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate and safe application of chemicals to trial sites and maintain storage facilities professionally.
  • Optimize the use of the Easy Data Collector (EDC) application and other digital tools to increase trial data capacity, accuracy, and improve data timelines available in SCOUT.
  • Support the development of crop strategy by sharing relevant in-field knowledge with ASM’s.
  • Propose and motivate product development projects to ASM’s for proposals at relevant Crop Teams.
  • Assist Agronomic Excellence with knowledge transfer for a smooth transition from registration trials to demonstration trials.
  • Contribute to new product and Business Excellence initiative launch plans by ensuring the transfer of product expertise to maximize market penetration and profitability quickly.
  • Participate in stretch projects (via Talent Marketplace) to drive more efficient and automated business processes, as and when relevant.
  • Lead efforts to fulfill compliance responsibilities in accordance with legal requirements and company Health, Safety, and Environment policies to maintain safe working conditions for employees and safe facilities for the public by adhering to the company’s safety standards and procedures. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • University Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Biological/Data Sciences, with a focus on crop protection.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of crops and practical cropping systems, as well as experience with field trials and field-testing methodology, including digital tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong networking and communication skills.
  • Good organization and planning skills to manage complexity.
  • Flexible and reliable.
