Field Sales Rep II Seed: North Central Ohio 

 

Position Overview

As a key player in Bayer’s commercial team, you will be responsible for supporting the squad in achieving assigned targets with Bayer products. You will develop and implement dealer business plans, manage forecasting, inventory management, and product line demand issues. Your role involves serving as the key business consultant to retailers and dealers, demonstrating the value of Bayer Crop Science products, and collaborating with various team members to maximize services, information, and sales to preferred growers and key customer accounts. You will actively manage inventory concerns, gather and analyze market and competitive information, and follow strategies for achieving business plans. Additionally, you will manage expenses, discretionary dollars, and program payments to enable top and bottom line growth, show initiative in expanding selling skills and product/portfolio knowledge, ensure achievement of program execution and fulfillment, and act as a mentor to FSR interns, Trainees, or more junior FSRs. Travel is approximately 60% with significant daily face-to-face customer interaction.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve assigned targets with Bayer products in coordination with squad-mates;
  • Support the successful delivery of squad goals through role responsibilities;
  • Develop and implement dealer business plans, manage forecasting, inventory management, and product line demand issues;
  • Serve as the key business consultant to retailers and dealers and effectively sell the value of Bayer Crop Science products;
  • Demonstrate proof of product performance against the competition by championing Bayer brands and product/technical/agronomic knowledge;
  • Collaborate with squad-mates including Field Sales Reps, Customer Business Advisors, Technical Agronomists, and Digital Enablement Leads to maximize services, information, and sales;
  • Actively manage inventory concerns to ensure business objectives are met;
  • Gather, assimilate, and analyze market and competitive information to drive business decisions;
  • Follow strategies for achieving long and short business plans for key accounts and assigned area;
  • Effectively manage expenses, discretionary dollars, and program payments to enable growth;
  • Show initiative in expanding selling skills and product/portfolio knowledge;
  • Ensure achievement of program execution and fulfillment, including national/regional marketing initiatives;
  • Successfully partner with squad-mates and manage the relationship with top growers and retailers;
  • Act as a mentor to FSR interns, Trainees, or more junior FSRs as requested by leadership;
  • Manage area claims per Bayer Crop Science policy through effective problem solving, execution, administration, and resource management;
  • Travel approximately 60% with significant daily face-to-face customer interaction.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, oral, and written);
  • Demonstrated initiative, assertiveness, and ability to drive results;
  • Strong business acumen, account planning, influencing, and critical thinking skills;
  • Proficiency in financial, time, and territory management;
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a rapid-paced and matrixed environment;
  • Strong user-level computer and presentation skills (proficiencies in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Demonstrated digital acumen and ability to analyze data to influence decisions;
  • Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment;
  • Proven interest in supporting the agricultural community.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred;
  • 3+ years of experience in sales, marketing, account management, or agriculture, or 7+ years of experience with a different education level;
  • Demonstrated product, portfolio, and agronomic knowledge preferred.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $75,000-105,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
