Research Strategy Engagement 

 

The Research Strategy Engagement will assist in executing evidence-based research contracts to support the US product portfolio(s). This position will be responsible for contracting partnerships across Research Generation and Evidence Based Research, and Customer Payer Insights within Medical Affairs across all therapeutic specific product collaboration areas. The role is key to reach ambitious objective of shaping the external evidence generation landscape as well as accelerating Bayer’s evidence generation through strategic partnerships in methods and data generation. The incumbent will work within Partnering and Issue Management team to develop stakeholder partnerships and partnership strategy with the Research Strategy and Evidence Generation team(s) on project implementation across all therapeutic areas.

 

This position will support project proposals, conduct legal research and project finalization with external Research Institutions, and major key Customers, among other high priority initiatives, fulfilling the needs of other senior leadership in US Medical Affairs and other senior US/Global Bayer stakeholders. This position will support Bayer across US Medical Affairs therapeutic areas, including pre- and post-launch activities, co-lead activities for securing relationships and execution of key deliverables associated with in-scope external leadership for continued evidence generation and demonstration of the value and differentiation of Bayer compounds. Communicate and work collaboratively with clients regarding negotiations to ensure projects are handled efficiently and timely, establishing strong external partnerships in collaboration with upper management to achieve Bayer’s aspiration and HEOR and Medical Affairs strategy.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Research Strategy Engagement, are to:

 

  • Support Research Collaborations, Evidence Based Generation and PIM team with execution and management of internal collaboration study contracts (ie; Retrospective, Bayer Sponsored Studies, product tools, and necessary housing platforms), to include the project evolution, and potentially address other/additional partnerships within Bayer that involve payer, PBMs, IDNs, and related large customers, to ensure alignment within Medical Affairs.
  • Manage project negotiations and expectations in contracting.
  • Effective and timely triage of escalated issues across collaboration entities, including integrating and facilitating interactions with key internal customer-facing stakeholders focusing on contracting needs.
  • Build and maintain trusted scientific partner relationship with these entities, as such, C-Suite leaders, National Thought Leaders, throughout lifecycle of ongoing projects.
  • Establish a trusted relationship across the Bayer functional teams (e.g., Medical, Commercial, Global and US Market Access) with external collaborations and represent Bayer enterprise needs to these collaborators. Build close interactions with critical functions within the overall function and team leadership.
  • Solve complex business problems, make recommendations, and drive increased business value and consistencies to improve the Medical Affairs business to ensure alignment across all Medical Affairs priorities while aligning internal and external stakeholders and vendors to ensure successful implementation of BU initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with contract negotiations and actional insights.
  • Requires the ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external partners in a matrix organization to ensure that all business needs are met.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills and good understanding in the multi-cultural corporate environments, ability to refine messages to their essence and communicate them clearly.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • This position requires around 10% travel for conferences or external customer engagement as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Law Degree is preferred.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs or key opinion leader activities is preferred.

 

 

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $ 124,000 to $187,400. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
