The Sr, Director, Health Systems is the national Customer Engagement lead responsible for driving sales, and market growth within healthcare systems, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and other organized customers. This position reports to SVP, Customer Engagement and requires a deep understanding of the healthcare system, formulary process and the specific needs of hospital and health system clinicians, pharmacists, and decision-makers in the healthcare space. The role will collaborate with the National Account Directors (NAD), Regional Associate Directors(RAD), Area General Managers(AGM), Medical, Health Systems marketing and internal support functions to execute strategy, deliver on sales goals and support strategic initiatives.

 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Sales Strategy and Execution:

    • Develop a strategic national sales plan to achieve or exceed sales targets within nationally targeted health systems and hospital networks;
    • Identify key opportunities for the NAD and RAD to grow product adoption and formulate approaches to win new business in healthcare systems;
    • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to adjust sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge;

 

Team Leadership and Development:

    • Collaborate with the Area VPs and AGMs, to provide direction to the NADs and RADs to achieve individual and squad sales objectives;
    • Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to best practices to NADs and RADs;
    • Organize training sessions to improve the team’s knowledge of products, industry regulations, and account management techniques;
    • Engage in business development activities, including attending conferences, trade shows, and meetings with healthcare stakeholders;

 

Market and Product Knowledge:

    • Serve as the subject matter expert for the CVR franchise within health systems, providing guidance to internal teams;
    • Stay current on regulatory changes, healthcare policy updates, and advancements in the pharmaceutical industry;
    • Understand customer needs and healthcare system challenges to tailor solutions and support the value proposition of the company’s products;
    • Understand the intricacies of the healthcare environment, including formulary, pathway, purchasing and reimbursement practices, to effectively position products;

 

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Partnership:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, medical affairs, regulatory, and operations, to ensure alignment in the execution of sales strategies;

 

Reporting and Analytics:

    • Regularly report on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity;
    • Analyze sales data to identify areas for improvement and refine strategies.

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field;
  • Experience working with hospitals, health systems, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and organized customers;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales with direct experience in hospitals/health systems in an account management capacity;
  • Experience with cardiovascular products in health systems is required, with a preference given for heart failure experience;
  • At least 2 years’ experience leading a team of seasoned account managers;
  • Proven record of success in formulary and pathway adoption as well as sales within health systems or hospital environments;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills;
  • Successful collaboration across field and home office teams;
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve sales goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • This role will travel to visit hospitals, healthcare systems, IDN and organized customers;
  • Willingness to travel nationally.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Familiarity with the latest industry regulations and healthcare policies;
  • Advanced knowledge in heart failure relevant to the company’s product portfolio;
  • Advanced Degree.

 

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $218,807.00 to $327,131.00.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
