Technical Agronomist III-Channel 

 

 

This territory will cover the Channel for NE Nebraska. This role will support sales teams and farmers by providing expert agronomic guidance to enhance crop yields and profitability. Responsibilities include collaborating with sales representatives to engage dealers and customers, conducting field trials for product testing, and ensuring robust data for product positioning and crop health assessment. The role also involves offering technical support on product selection and application, conducting training sessions on best practices, developing customized crop management solutions, and promoting digital tools for data analysis and insight sharing, all while delivering timely agronomic information through various channels. 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Tech Agronomist III, are to:

  • Plan and execute field‑scale testing programs, including designing trials that generate high‑quality agronomic and product performance data;
  • Collaborate with seed dealers and growers to plant trials, collect required data, maintain and harvest trials, and translate results into clear recommendations;
  • Provide technical support and training for seed dealers and the Bayer squad, including product knowledge, agronomic best practices, and local management recommendations;
  • Provide technical information and positioning guidance for seed, trait, and crop protection (chemistry) products, clearly communicating agronomic value and return on investment;
  • Create and own an Agronomy Plan aligned with the local squad’s business strategies and objectives, enabling the squad and customers to achieve or exceed sales and growth targets;
  • Build strong presence and credibility with key growers, seed dealers, crop consultants, and other key third‑party stakeholders, serving as a trusted agronomic advisor;
  • Plan and execute tactics that support identified business strategies, including local demonstrations, field days, training events, and digital engagement;
  • Provide strong leadership in local product portfolio management and future‑year forecasting, evaluating new products thoroughly each season to inform forecasting and market positioning strategy;
  • Ensure product stewardship and provide use recommendations for the local territory, including educating the sales team and customers on the legal use of crop protection and seed products;
  • Comply with Bayer safety and vehicle safety policies and manage the proper use of Product Performance Inquiry claims in alignment with guidelines;
  • Travel approximately ~60% of the time with significant daily face‑to‑face customer interaction to support dealers, growers, and internal partners;
  • Launch new products effectively in the local market, delivering high‑quality work, exercising good judgment, and making independent decisions without immediate supervision.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field;
  • Strong agronomic expertise with the ability to analyze field conditions, diagnose crop issues, and develop practical, locally relevant crop management solutions;
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with growers, seed dealers, or agricultural customers, with proven ability to build trust and long‑term relationships;
  • Proven ability to plan and execute field trials or on‑farm demonstrations, interpret data, and translate results into clear, actionable recommendations;
  • Strong communication and training skills, including the ability to convey complex agronomic and product information clearly to diverse audiences and through multiple channels (in‑person, digital, social media, email);
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross‑functional or squad‑based environments, with the ability to collaborate effectively with sales, product management, agronomy, and marketing teams and to contribute constructive, solution‑based input;
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while delivering high‑quality work independently;
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT license;
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and willingness to travel approximately ~60% within the territory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years (with BS), 4+ years (with MS), or 3+ years (with PhD) of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or R&D‑related roles; degree must be completed by start date.
 
 

This role will be posted unitl 5/7/26.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $90,320.00 - $135,480.00  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
