As a Lead Product Manager, you will join Bayer's IT Foundation, Infrastructure Platform - a global community of 200+ people across 40+ countries. We support 800 locations, 7,000+ integrations, and 4,000+ cloud subscriptions across AWS, Azure, and GCP, powering 160+ R&D and Production sites worldwide.

Joining our API Management & Integration Unit, you will lead the evolution of our digital product platforms. We are seeking a strategic Product Manager with deep expertise in platform-as-a-product and cloud-scale integration ecosystems.

 

 

YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO: 

 

Lead Product Manager ensures that products fulfil their primary purpose to enable users to perform tasks that create value for the company. The Lead Product Manager sets strategic vision for the product to ensure the customer and their needs are at the center, also ensuring team priorities are supporting business outcomes for customers, products, technical, and enabling teams. This requires continual alignment of the product strategy and objectives with customer, product, technical, and enabling teams. The Lead Product Manager is also responsible for managing the product backlog, which prioritizes the work of the assigned squads, to achieve the vision and aligned strategy. To successfully manage these areas of responsibility, the Lead Product Manager must have a deep understanding of the product domain, related technology, and architecture.

 

As a Senior member of the Product team, the Lead Product Manager drives strategy and execution for a complex ecosystem of digital products that crosses multiple workflows, technical platforms, business units, and other product teams. They are accountable for aligning people, processes, and technology to provide the optimal end-to-end experience for key personas and deliver the most value for the company. Your be responsibilities will be:

 

  • Accountable for the overall success of a product throughout its lifecycle, from conception to decommissioning.
  • Identify domain needs, develop, and validate product concepts, and build a business case.
  • Oversee the product's build and launch, including any sourced services; as well as ensure product availability, stability, and compliance needs are met.
  • Collaborate with various teams, including product development, marketing, finance, legal, manufacturing, operations, and sales, as needed, to ensure cohesive progress and success.
  • Drive agile best practices with the team to improve delivery, including continuous planning ahead of each development cycle (e.g. sprint planning) and working together to co-create user stories aligned with the product backlog prioritization.
  • Identify market opportunities competitive analysis, sales enablement, or monitoring domain performance.
  • Identify key stakeholder group. Though many strong and loud opinions will be expressed, the Lead Product Manager uses discretion to deliver their product in a way that meets the needs of users and stakeholders who will ensure value is realized for Bayer. Stakeholders should trust that the lead Product Manager not only understands their needs but will actively work to ensure their needs are met while delivering the product.
  • Provide strategic leadership with full end-to-end ownership for their assigned products throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Responsible for planning and optimizing capabilities to deliver business outcomes in the most efficient way.
  • Strong strategic planning, decision making, and influencing skills to balance the needs of users and various stakeholders.
  • Responsible for creating comprehensive product roadmaps, to clarify user needs and non-functional requirements.
  • Provide product oversight by tracking and reporting progress against 90-day outcomes and overall product health (including budget responsibilities).
  • Plan and manage product delivery while streamlining the corresponding backlog.
  • Responsible for monitoring user feedback and metrics to co-create solutions that drive better user experience and deliver more business value.
  • Leverage Design Thinking methodology, starting with user needs to prioritize problems and through discovery they perform usability, feasibility, business fit and value testing to determine the optimal solution.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with product users and stakeholders, which requires strong strategic communication skills.
  • Effectively collaborate cross-functionally, bringing together diverse skills and knowledge to deliver a valuable product.
  • Maintain strong and productive working relationships with colleagues in product management, engineering, and other technically focused organizations.
  • Responsible for mentoring more junior product managers to improve product management and agile practices across the community.

 

 

ARE YOU READY FOR THE POSITION?

 

Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or similar or minimum 4 years equivalent practical experience in addition to: 10 or more years of experience as a product manager. 5 or more years of experience with Agile development and DevOps;
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
  • Experience in building product vision, product roadmap, product strategy, and competitive analysis;
  • Experience in creating strategic product roadmaps from conception to launch;
  • Sound understanding of Product Design methods and processes.
  • Experience in the business domain relevant to the digital product is desirable;
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, delivering or leading digital solutions in a large-scale, highly complex global environment;
  • Customer-centric mindset and Customer experience management;
  • Strong Communication, collaboration, problem solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to lead through influence, working in a cross functional team, building relationships with engineering teams and business stakeholders;
  • Strategic planning and decision-making skills with ability to evolve solution strategy based on research, data and industry trends;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, being able to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical people.
  • Attention to details;
  • Ability to lead by influence, challenge and convince the various stakeholders involved in any project.

 

Preferred

 

  • Experience with Design Thinking, user-centered design & user analysis;
  • Ability to establish and manage initiatives against a set of key metrics and goals;
  • Strong knowledge of API Management Concepts and Components (including API Gateway);
  • Knowledge about Software Development Lifecycle, Data Management principles and relevant Service Management aspects;
  • Ability to measure and effectively communicate the business value of proposals and deliverables.
