Heavy Equipment Mechanic 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Heavy Equipment Mechanic are:

 

  • Power and drive train repair, troubleshooting and schematic readouts (all phases of light and heavy equipment;)
  • Service all heavy equipment - change oil, filters, lube and take oil samples;
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic systems maintenance. Troubleshooting and schematic reading;
  • Heavy equipment pump and compressor maintenance;
  • Small engine repair;
  • Diesel mechanics;
  • 6v, 12v, and 24v schematic reading, troubleshooting, and repair;
  • Ability to build hydraulic hose assemblies (both low and high pressure;)
  • Basic computer skills for diagnostic test equipment hook up and read outs;
  • Work as scheduled to execute maintenance and operations work throughout the plant;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

 

More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Diesel engine preventative maintenance and repair experience;
  • Gas engine equipment maintenance and experience;
  • Demonstrated computer ability.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • At least three years of diesel engine preventative maintenance and repair experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience operating heavy equipment;
  • At least 3 years industrial welding experience;
  • Three years gas engine equipment maintenance experience;
  • Formal (Vocational Technology) hydraulics/pneumatics certificate;
  • Formal (Vocational Technology) diesel mechanic’s certificate;
  • Formal (Vocational Technology) welding certificate;
  • Current certificate to perform coded/specialty welding;
  • Current computer lap top diagnostic skills and SAP experience.
