Production Lead 

 

Production Lead (Soda Springs, ID)

 

Plans, directs, and coordinates all manufacturing activities in a plant to produce high-quality products at competitive costs while adhering to safety and legal regulations. Ensures safe, cost-effective, timely, and specification-compliant production according to Standard Operating Procedures. Oversee process and plant safety, employee health and safety, quality, and emergency operations. Maintains external and internal regulatory compliance, including environmental aspects of the plant. Plans, staffs, organizes, and managing personnel, including training and supervision. Allocates resources and manages cost centers necessary for safe and efficient operations. Facilitates communication and information exchange within the unit/plant and with key interfaces, such as Production Reporting. Plans, implements, and improves production processes. Manages projects focused on cost savings, performance improvement, investments, and integrations. Ensures the safe technical functioning of production facilities in collaboration with engineering and technology teams.

Responsible for the reliable operations of the North Area’s (Kiln and HEG) manufacturing processes, ensuring production targets are met in a safe, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective manner.


TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage and lead operations to assure customer satisfaction and compliance; establish and maintain key operating parameters and operating standards to guide operations
  • Manage and lead activities required to support unit operations, including but not limited to process optimization, SOP development, troubleshooting, management of change, root cause failure analysis, quality assurance, and control system optimization;
  • Collaborate with on-site and corporate customers to ensure the plant operations meet site, company and regulatory needs and requirements;
  • Monitor and analyze Plant performance and drive initiatives to continuously optimize the processes to achieve the operational objectives;
  • Collaborate with the technology & engineering groups to optimize the Plant;
  • Develop and implement process improvements, in collaboration with cross functional teams;
  • Support site wide initiatives to drive sustainability and compliance improvements;
  • Track and manage the manufacturing costs within budget;
  • Hire, coach and develop personnel to ensure the training and continuing education of employees within line responsibility;
  • Partner to continuously improve operations, efficiency and training for operations personnel; accountable for training material for operations personnel;
  • Maintain good relations with the employees and partner with Human Resources to maintain consistent and uniform administration of personnel policies;
  • The Kiln Processes include:
    • Rotary kiln for phosphate ore beneficiation;
    • Pollution control with SO2 and Mercury scrubbing along with dewatering processes;
    • Settling ponds and water balance management;
    • Waste heat steam generation;
    • Screening and blending of calcined phosphate, coke, and silica to P4 furnaces;
  • The HEG (Heavy Equipment Group) Processes include very large mobile equipment:
    • Kress Pot carriers to haul molten slag from P4 furnaces;
    • CAT front end loaders to supply Kiln processes with materials;
    • CAT haul trucks to supply Kiln processes with materials;
    • CAT dozer, grader, and excavator to maintain roads and stockpiles;

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or similar field AND minimum 10 years of industrial manufacturing;
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, exceptional technical skills including the ability to understand applicable process technology, unit operations, and control systems are essential.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to ensure effective compliance with environmental regulations and OSHA process safety management standard and process hazard identification, analysis, and mitigation is highly desired;
  • Experience with new plant design, construction and start-up is a strong plus;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as a leader/facilitator and team member;
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to drive change, influence without authority;
  • The ability and interest to eventually take on successive leadership roles is strongly preferred;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Posting is available until October 1, 2026.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $104,080.00 - $156,120.00.  Compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
