Global API Supply Manager 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

  • Strategic Supply & Inventory: Ensure stock availability of strategic materials to support finished goods sales for a pipeline of several hundred million. Manage a global inventory of up to 30 million. 

  • End-to-End Ownership: Manage a defined range of products, overseeing market supply and the product lifecycle as a Change Coordinator. The Supply Manager is responsible for the entire supply chain from supplier to customer and is accountable for solving all related supply issues. 

  • Project Management: Act as a project manager for product triangulation through a global hub, new product implementations, and the execution of cost-saving opportunities. 

  • Performance & Digitalization: Ensure compliance with defined processes and actively control designated Supply Chain KPIs. Drive improvement and optimization initiatives, specifically focusing on improving performance through digitalization. 

  • Customer Focus: Achieve a high customer service level, acceptance, and reliability by proactively managing communication between suppliers and customers (inc. Sites, CMOs). 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Demand & Order Management: Monitor and assess gross or net demand from Bayer affiliates or external customers (Management of SAP APO DP/SNP, considering inventory targets and master data settings). Create and manage Customer Sales Orders, Purchase Requisitions, and Intercompany Purchase Orders. Manage the order-to-invoice cycle, including the creation and management of customer-specific sales orders, deliveries, and invoices to ensure the timely delivery of goods. 

  • Supply Chain Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for Bayer affiliates, external customers, and suppliers regarding the supply process of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates, bulk, and (in exceptional cases) finished goods. 

  • Allocation & Optimization: Responsible for global demand allocation across multiple sources to ensure contractual volume purchase obligations are met. Coordinate a supply chain pipeline with defined key financials and propose improvement opportunities. 

  • Issue & Performance Management: Manage supply chain issues on an exception basis, providing direction and prioritization. Monitor and achieve Supply Chain KPIs (e.g., sOTIF, inventory levels, schedule attainment, customer service level, forecast accuracy, write-offs). 

  • Logistics & Warehousing: Oversee transportation planning and freight management. Monitor and reconcile stock for assigned BCC warehouses and tolling plants. 

  • Lifecycle & Master Data Management: Support lifecycle projects and coordinate change requests for new product introductions, text and layout changes, and product eliminations. Accountable for customer lifecycle management (e.g., creation and deletion of customer master data). 

  • Supplier & Contract Management: Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance. Negotiate and control supply agreements and contractual clauses across their lifecycle. Mitigate legal and supply risks in alignment with the Legal function. 

  • Process Support & Digitalization: Share best practices and support systems/processes such as APO (Planning), BIIR (Inventory), Synaps (Life Cycle), and ICS (Compliance). Drive digitalization initiatives, including new system onboarding and AI enablement, to modernize tools and streamline supply chain operations. 

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • Education & Experience: BS/BA in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or an equivalent field, with a minimum of 4 years of supply chain experience in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or a related industry.  

  • System & Digital Capabilities: Proficiency in SAP SD/MM, SAP APO, Microsoft Office suite. Strong digital capability, including proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, advanced Excel) to drive data-informed decision-making and support modern digitalization and AI enablement initiatives. (Agent/Skill level experience considered as plus) 

  • Industry Compliance: Solid understanding of the legal, regulatory, and cGMP/GXP/GDP frameworks within the OTC business and manufacturing environments. 

  • Technical Expertise: Strong theoretical and practical foundation in production planning, logistics, and forecasting. Proven experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) projects, coupled with foundational project management skills. 

  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical and non-technical information to all levels of management, both internally (BCC AG) and externally. 

  • Soft Skills: Proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset. Exceptional problem-solving, prioritization, and conflict-resolution skills tailored for both cross-functional team environments and external partner engagements. High degree of customer focus.
