Regional Credit Manager 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

We are looking for a results-driven candidate who aspires to build a credit ecosystem from the ground up for FPOs and their farmers covering both working capital needs to enable the agricultural input and produce sale business as well as infrastructure investments. The Regional Credit Manager will be supporting FPOs to evolve into commercially successful business enterprises through offering timely, innovative, and holistic credit solutions that are tailor-made to their specific needs.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • Create a partnership network of financial institutions such as banks, NBFCs as well as their agents to offer choice to FPOs and their farmers
  • Drive credit product innovation/ customization based on observed requirements by pushing partner financial institutions to be more customer-centric
  • Build a closed-loop credit ecosystem, linking input distributors and produce off-takers (e.g. Godrej, ADM, ITC) to the FPO and farmer financing needs
  • Identify mutually beneficial commercial models for FarmRise One and financial institutions to share the value created
  • Build key metrics of success for the credit business and assign outcomes as per agricultural crop seasons.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, government policies and best practices in the agricultural lending space.

 

Credit Lead Generation

  • Identify right farmer and FPO customer segments in need of credit
  • Engage FPOs by designing and conducting various programs such as trainings on financial literacy/ business management together with partner financial institutions and NGOs (e.g. IFC, HDFC Foundation)
  • Assess FPO credit requirements and guide them on their credit needs
  • Support FPOs in their credit application where required
  • Help decide on the appropriate financial institutions for FPOs credit request

 

Credit Lead Conversion

  • Create a consistent MIS/ tracking system for transparency on progress of credit leads
  • Track performance of financial institution partners and keep them accountable
  • Support high value cases where required
  • Propose improvement and mitigation actions to increase credit lead conversion
  • Identify areas for improving the process through digitization

 

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Agriculture
  • 5-8 years’ work experience in lending institutions or FinTech’s focused on agriculture credit, appraisal and underwriting for FPOs and farmers
  • Strong understanding of the agricultural value chain and credit market dynamics in agriculture, esp. priority sector lending
  • Ideally previous experience working with users with lower digital savviness, such as FPOs/ farmers and how to improve digital adoption.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to manage various workstreams in parallel and prioritize attention to the most strategic areas
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to drive insights and actions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovative marketing strategies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment.
