Therapy Area Head Heart Health - Medical Affairs 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position mainly serves as Medical Affairs Head for the team supporting the Heart Health portfolio. Collaborate effectively with local cross functional teams (business colleagues), Regional and Global team members in the execution of relevant medico-marketing and clinical activities. This person exhibits the VACC leadership.

As an added responsibility, this position also provides medical/technical advice as Medical Advisor to designated business units of BZPPL and ensures that marketing and sales functions have sufficient medical scientific support. This also includes interaction and relationship building with TLs and other customers.

The position holder also actively supports Clinical study Management team as Medical Expert in managing medical scientific questions related to trials and acts as the Medical Expert in the designated therapeutic area/products.

All activities shall be directed towards maximizing the value of our products and projects while upholding medical ethics and compliance and assuring a well-functioning Medical Governance and general compliance.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing Medical Affairs perspective into various plans and strategies including MA Studies, IIR, RA – Support for NDA and GCT; and marketing initiatives
  • Work closely with Marketing to build strong competitor intelligence and knowledge of market trends for TAs at local level
  • Conceptualizing, Planning and Organizing CMEs, Advisory boards, Symposia and Scientific Activities in line with the Marketing Strategy
  • Provide tactical and strategic inputs, and technical expertise, to Product Management towards ethical promotion of assigned products
  • Deliver TA trainings for internal and external personnel, Development & Support of Field Force Training Material (especially for Med Rep Field Force)
  • Plan, initiate, manage the implementation of clinical studies (including post-marketing) and drive timely publication of Post clinical trial activities
  • Act as a medical contact for Thought Leaders, investigators and external Medical Experts. Participate/facilitate/conduct customized promotional/educational interactions with TLs          
  • Support the Medical Director in building awareness of the role of the local Medical Affairs Group, and the value it can provide, within the countries (business partners and TLs) and the Region                                      
  • Review and approve promotional materials related to assigned TAs according to the pertinent SOP, local regulations and local code
  • Provide medical and product expertise towards registration of new products/indications with local regulatory authorities through delivery of scientific presentations, provision of medical rationale and published literature
  • Lead and manage the team within TA. Provide hands-on training, guidance, and support across various functional domains through functional mentorship of Medical Affairs staff

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Certified Medical Doctor from a recognized Medical University with Post-graduation (e.g., MD)
  • More than 10 years of experience in Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, having demonstrated a high level of local as well as regional scientific management competency
  • Have in depth Disease Area expertise and technical knowledge in the assigned therapeutic areas and Bayer products and pipeline molecules
  • Highly skilled in developing and delivering scientific trainings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering cross country scientific presentations and publications in Hospitals in English
  • Extensive experience with conducting medical education and advisory board meetings for Key Thought Leaders in TA
  • Excellent thought leader (TL) knowledge and network in TA
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to present highly complex scientific data, anticipate potential objections and handle them effectively
  • Strong ability to negotiate and influence others through scientific discussions 
  • Extensive experience in leading and mentoring MAs/MSLs
  • High Collaborative and Relationship building skills (both within and outside organisation)
  • Highly independent and Analytical
  • Strong ethical work values
