Senior Nursery Manager II (Sr Product and Pipeline Planner) 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

As a Senior Nursery Manager II (Sr. Product and Pipeline Planner), you will drive the successful development and delivery of the Global Corn Breeding Trait Integration product pipeline genetics. From project initiation to parent line development and Product Supply handoff, you will play a pivotal role in implementing strategies that optimize product development and technical innovation. You will possess specialized knowledge in relevant technology areas, independently identifying research opportunities and aligning core competencies with business objectives. Your creativity in problem-solving and ability to effectively communicate data and findings both internally and externally will be essential in designing strategies to optimize product development.

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Nursery Manager II (Sr. Product and Pipeline Planner), are to:   

 

  • Support the design, development, implementation, and execution of technical projects to improve pipeline and operations within the region;
  • Implement Precision Breeding Technical innovations regionally;
  • Lead multi-function teams across North America to drive genetic gain and product performance through digital transformation and new technology development;
  • Design strategies to optimize pipeline execution in collaboration with stakeholders, Planning, Nursery Operations, digital IT, and laboratory teams;
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, applying new technologies and developing effective methodologies at scale;
  • Create and own the strategy to ensure parental lines and hybrids are developed and delivered for product supply handoffs and Breeding field trials;
  • Communicate nursery outcomes effectively, including timelines, performance, quality, and efficacy.

Who You Are:

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Education and experience in agronomy, plant science, data science, plant breeding, quantitative genetics, experimental design, statistical analysis, engineering, or a related field;
  • PhD with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience, MS with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience, or BS with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience;
  • Expertise in modern breeding methodologies, including genomics, molecular biology, automation, phenomics, or related fields;
  • Proven ability to build, analyze, and summarize large data sets to support high-impact decisions;
  • Demonstrated capability of continuous improvements and new innovations through project teams;
  • Expertise in advanced analytical tools and software (R, Python, Power BI, Spotfire, etc.);
  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams;
  • Experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in operations, production planning, process engineering, or supply chain management;
  • Familiarity with data science and computer programming, supply chain models, and data analysis with large datasets;
  • Formal training and/or experience in Process Engineering or manufacturing best practices (e.g., LEAN, Six Sigma);
  • Project management experience;
  • Formal leadership training;
  • Familiarity with Cloud computing platforms GitHub and/or AWS;
  • Experience with R, Perl, and/or Python.
