Analytical Development Scientist I |

Position Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Analytical Method Development and Validation Scientist to support process development, scale-up, and technical transfer activities for Bayers' existing and pipeline crop protective agents. The role will be responsible for developing, optimizing, validating, and transferring robust analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, active ingredients, impurities, by-products, reaction monitoring, and in-process controls using chromatographic, mass spectrometric, PAT, and wet chemistry techniques.
The job holders ensure all the analytical work is done following the highest safety standards with GLP and document the generated data. The applicant will have an excellent practical and theoretical understanding of analytical chemistry or a relevant technology and can design and execute high-quality, thoughtful outcomes by analyzing different experiments while making significant contributions both independently and as a member of a team. The candidate will work within an interdisciplinary and cross-divisional team in the Crop Protection Innovation organization.

Major tasks and responsibilities of the position
• Develop, optimize, validate, and transfer analytical methods using GC, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, PAT tools, and classical wet chemistry techniques.
• Support process development projects through reaction monitoring, impurity profiling, mass balance studies, assay determination, and identification of critical quality attributes.
• Execute method validation and verification studies covering specificity, accuracy, precision, linearity, range, robustness, ruggedness, detection limit, quantitation limit, and system suitability, as applicable.
• Develop fit-for-purpose in-process control methods to support rapid decision-making during route scouting, process optimization, scale-up, and plant troubleshooting.
• Use PAT tools and chemometric approaches, where applicable, to support real-time process understanding, monitoring, and control.
• Interpret chromatographic and spectrometric data, troubleshoot analytical and process-related issues, and provide scientifically sound recommendations to cross-functional teams.
• Prepare, review, and maintain analytical protocols, validation reports, method transfer packages, standard operating procedures, technical summaries, and laboratory records.
• Collaborate closely with process chemists, process engineers, formulation scientists, QA, QC, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to ensure analytical readiness for development milestones and technology transfer.
• Participation in internal/external inspection/audit preparations and documentation.
• Ability to prioritize and manage numerous activities simultaneously, to ensure timely delivery of analytical objectives.
Work relations

1) Internal
Coordinate with ADL team members as well as synthesis chemistry lab for analytical development-related activities.
Co-ordinate with Global Product Chemistry and AI Process Development team and Manufacturing site QA teams.
2) External
Coordinate with various Vendors and engineers for instrument installation/maintenance activities.
Qualifications
(Education, skills, experiences and personal characteristics necessary for success in this position)
• M.Sc/ Mpharm in Analytical/Organic Chemistry with more than 10 years’ experience
• Deep understanding of analytical tools and supporting software like Empower, OpenLab CDS, and LabSolutions. and Chromeleon
• Working knowledge of wet chemistry methods such as titration, Karl Fischer water determination, residue on ignition/ash, pH, conductivity, extraction, derivatization, and sample preparation techniques.
• Strong scientific curiosity and ability to connect analytical findings with process chemistry understanding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, effectively plan and follow through on complex projects in a multi-disciplinary international team
• Possesses a strong willingness to learn and grow through challenging experiences, actively engaging in giving and receiving constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement.
• Effectively interacts with diverse teams across functions, cultivating strong working relationships with both internal and external collaborators to enhance overall performance
• Ability to work in the shifts
