Integrated Strategic Communications Manager Central & Eastern Europe
Purpose of the Role
You help Bayer reach its business goals through clear, strategic, and integrated communication. Your work will:
- Support business growth in Health
- Strengthen Bayer’s reputation in the region
- Inform and engage employees and the public
You report to the Head of Communications North & Eastern Europe, are part of the CEE Communications Team, and work closely with colleagues in other countries and global teams.
Main focus: Poland, plus work for other Eastern European countries (e.g., Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary) and selected global projects.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Lead and execute communication for CEE (focus on Poland)
- Plan and run integrated communication activities in Poland and other CEE countries (PL, SK, HU, CZ)
- Create content that informs, inspires, and mobilizes key stakeholders (customers, patients, consumers) to support business goals
- Create with and for customers
- Develop engaging formats and campaigns that motivate and inspire customers, patients, and consumers
- Help unlock business growth in the region
- Media relations in Eastern Europe
- Plan and implement proactive and reactive media work (press releases, interviews, statements)
- Manage issues and public relations topics
- Position Bayer as a leading Life Science company in Eastern Europe
- Lead Pharma (PH) communications in CEE
- Focus on Poland, with responsibility across the region
- Identify strong stories and communication opportunities that support business growth
- Digital & social media
- Manage and optimize social media channels
- Test and use AI-based tools (e.g., chatbots) to automate and improve engagement
- Measurement & continuous improvement
- Define KPIs for channels and content
- Regularly report on performance and insights
- Apply best practices for new communication stakeholders such as Large Language Models
- Collaboration in the CEE Comms team
- Co-develop key messages and stories on core topics with other team members
- Work closely with local, regional, and global communications colleagues
Who You Are
- Education & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or Business Administration
- 10+ years of experience leading and implementing strategic communications programs
- Preferably experience in healthcare & the pharmaceutical industry
- Languages
- Fluent Polish
- Fluent English (must-have, daily working language)
- Another CEE language is an advantage
- Professional skills
- Strong business understanding; able to turn business goals into proactive communication strategies
- Able to create clear, compelling, and creative content and explain complex topics in a simple way
- Proven experience in media relations and expanding reach across different media types
- Able to design and run a content strategy that supports brand and reputation
- Strong knowledge of digital tools and platforms (social media, CMS, etc.)
- Able to analyze content performance and audience engagement and adjust strategy accordingly
- Interest in or willingness to learn about generative/agentic AI and how to use it in communications
- Personal skills
- Strong organizational skills; able to manage several projects at the same time and work with urgency
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, international environment
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to build trustful relationships
- Comfortable working with diverse cultures and teams
