Lead Data Architect Market Analytics

The Data & Analytics team at Bayer Consumer Health focuses on bringing digital transformation and innovation by creating best in class analytical solutions enabling data-driven decision making and performance optimization for Bayer Consumer Health organization.

You will be part of the data & analytics organization and are responsible to own the global Market Data Asset and technically guide projects that use it. You partner with business stakeholders, data scientists, analytics leads as well as implementation partners/vendors and are the leading data architect for our analytical products in the market analytics area. Your strength is to ensure proper data management, data ingestion and data pipeline orchestration in a modern cloud environment in order to create the Market Data Asset from different raw data sources. You also technically guide projects on architecture and design.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Create & implement data management strategy/ concepts for the global market data asset which ensures that data processing and end result follow the F.A.I.R. data principles and our global standards.
  • Own the global market data asset and manage the integration of different data coming from countries (market sell out data, POS data, retailer sales data, strategic market data, trend data etc.) as well as different sources (IRI, IQVIA, Euromonitor, Nielson etc. - global sources and country sources) into one global market data asset based on the requirements of the consuming projects.
  • Contribute to the enrichment of our global data and analytics technology stack according to the needs of the analytics products in your area of responsibility.
  • As an individual contributor, you technically lead implementation teams with a strong backend focus. You work with other data architects to ensure your concepts fit to overall strategy, with analytics teams & data science teams as well business functions like as Customer Excellence, Pricing, Market research etc. (global and in the countries) to provide fit-for-purpose global market analytics products.
  • Be responsible to ensure compliance, setup respective processes for data access, manage legal requirements (e.g. TPAs) or data privacy related topics in order to deliver fit-for purpose and scalable analytics products.
  • Be responsible for managing external service providers/partners, prepare cost and time estimates and ensure the proper handover to the operations.

 

Qualifications & Competencies (education, skills, experience):

  • Master degree in computer science, engineering or a comparable subject
  • 5-8+ years' working experience in the field of Data & Analytics, experience in the area of market analytics/market insights and with experience in CPG/FMCG industry & commercial use cases is a pro, but not a must.
  • Practical & theoretical knowhow in one or more of the following technologies: Databricks and Snowflake. Additional knowhow in Azure Data Factory & Azure Data Lake Gen2, Python, AzureML, SAP Hana would be a plus. Generally, a good understanding of spark-based ETL processing, event-driven data processing, SQL, and cloud computing solutions in the area of data & analytics is needed.
  • Profound data architecture & technology knowledge, data engineering skills, as well as data management knowhow (data cataloguing, data quality management, management of data stewardship processes) is required.
  • If possible, data knowledge (IRI, Nielson, IQVIA, Kantar etc., sell-in/sell-out as well as COPA etc.) and commercial and market research process know-how in the area of CPG industry
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgement.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, active listening, consulting, challenging, presentation skills
  • Fluent in English, both written & spoken, intercultural awareness and willingness to travel
