Product Development Scientist
Position Overview:
As a Technical Expert in North America Crop Development Units, you play a pivotal role in executing and enhancing technical strategies for product development. Your work aligns with product concepts and commercial needs, delivering a robust portfolio of improved germplasm products. You will interact with partners across various functions, such as Planning, Field Testing, nursery operations, data science, and Product Design, ensuring successful pipeline delivery. Your contributions to the resource plan (LRP) each year will incorporate new Precision Breeding capabilities while accounting for operational realities. You will co-develop, test, and implement innovative experimental designs, data collection methods, and analytics to enhance decision science and impact product development pipelines globally. Your role involves directing field evaluations of pre-commercial products and leveraging data and in-field observations to build deep product knowledge. You will partner with diverse teams to adapt phenotyping methodologies to modern climate conditions and management practices, providing insights for product recommendations. Additionally, you will participate in commercial and customer-facing events to translate and communicate product knowledge with partners and growers, driving commercial deployment and product knowledge transfer to improve product placement and launch effectiveness. As a champion of digital transformation, you will support the development and implementation of Precision Breeding technical outcomes for product development in North America, leveraging real and simulated data to improve selection and placement decisions. You will partner with teams throughout Breeding to derive actionable insights from historical data, improving breeding strategies. Your efforts will drive alignment across R&D and Commercial teams to ensure customer needs and market trends are incorporated into pipeline strategy and selection approaches. You will also support Sustainability, Safety, Health, and Environment initiatives, as well as Compliance, Business Conduct, and Human Rights focus and culture in the region.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute and provide inputs on technical strategy creation and continuous improvement for product development;

- Contribute technical insights for the resource plan (LRP) each year, incorporating Precision Breeding capabilities;
- Codevelop, test, and implement new experimental designs, data collection methods, and analytics to improve decision science and product development pipelines globally;
- Direct field evaluation of pre-commercial products, leveraging data and in-field observations to build deep product knowledge;
- Partner with teams to adapt phenotyping methodologies to modern climate conditions and management practices, providing insights for product recommendations;
- Participate in commercial and customer-facing events to translate and communicate product knowledge with partners and growers;

Required Qualifications:
- MS degree in Plant or Animal Breeding, Quantitative or Statistical Genetics, Data Science, or other relevant scientific field;
- Demonstrated effectiveness in developing technical strategy, driving innovation, and building cross-functional partnerships to solve business or technical problems;
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;
- Experience leading and influencing activities of cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships;
- Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities, facilitating solutions;
- Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously;
- Customer-centric mindset, with a proven record of identifying customer needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD degree in Plant or Animal Breeding, Quantitative or Statistical Genetics, Data Science, or other relevant scientific field;
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in breeding programs, genetics, or applied data science projects;
This position can be located in Flora, MS, Waco, NE or Waterman, IL.
