YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Digestive Health Associate Director for the US Medical Affairs Digestive Health team is a senior medical team expert leading the company’s objectives for the US Digestive Health brands. The role will represent US Medical in Brand teams, and interface with US Regulatory Affairs, Legal and Global Medical Affairs. This role will define and implement programs to support new product development and medical plans and activities, as well as local promotional review and approvals
The primary responsibilities of this role, Digestive Health Associate Director, are to:
- Provide the medical and scientific expertise in assessing and interpreting clinical studies and data as well as additional external medical and scientific information which can be translated and used in commercialization activities including development of clinical claims, advertising claims, promotional claims, and new product opportunities to support the company's objectives for the digestive health category;
- Strategic planning, guidance, and implementation of programs, including clinical development programs, to support and drive the development of new claims, new products, and new dietary supplement and OTC brands;
- Effectively communicate with the marketing/commercialization groups as well as technical groups in identifying scientific insights, educating, and influencing nonscientific decision makers regarding business opportunities related to clinical information;
- Approve advertising copy and promotional copy from a Medical perspective as well as facilitate escalation resolution as needed;
- Manage US thought leader (TL) relationships;
- Contributes to the development of the strategy for TL identification, management, and engagement in line with the category/brand objectives;
- Build strong relationships with TL to keep informed of and ahead of the most recently published literature in the digestive health category, including respective treatment, prevention, and other self-care measures;
- Drive clinical and scientific innovation, local medical plans, and activation, as well as claims initiation, substantiation, and defense;
- Support contact with the Health Authorities regarding medical/clinical issues and point person for representing Consumer Health in external and internal forums related to specific category activity.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Nutritional or medical science-related graduate degree;
- Experience managing medical affairs activities for both OTC and dietary supplement products in the US;
- Strong communication skills, oral and written, as well as interpersonal skills;
- Self-starter, resourceful, and function as a medical champion for the assigned brands and category;
- Ability to interact with and influence people at all levels within Bayer;
- Thorough knowledge of scientific information, the ability to interpret and assimilate scientific data, and thought leader development skills;
- Good understanding of the key pre-clinical and clinical trial design elements, including statistical considerations, operations, and interpretation of these activities as well as regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or M.D. with at least 6 years of relevant work experience;
- M.S. or PharmD with 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Relocation may be offered for this role.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $144,160.00 to $216,240.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
