Director of Business Systems & Operations Capabilities
As part of Bayer’s transformation journey, the Director of Business Systems & Operations Capabilities will play a pivotal role in transforming our customer engagement landscape. This leader will drive the design, development, and deployment of the US Business Systems technology stack, leveraging AI capabilities to enable high-impact interactions with our customers.
The Director will partner closely with Commercial, Medical, and IT teams to support field excellence across both medical and commercial functions. By connecting business needs with technology solutions, this role will help build a cohesive and intuitive customer engagement platform that integrates multiple systems, delivering a seamless user experience for our field teams. A techno-functional professional with excellent communication skills, this role will translate complex technical details into business language and vice versa.
This dual skill set allows them to:
- Design more holistic and efficient solutions by considering both technical constraints and business goals.
- Act as a single point of contact, reducing communication overhead between separate technical and functional teams.
- Help stakeholders understand the "how" and "why", acting as a strategic partner in digital transformation initiatives.
This role will report to the Senior Director, Business Systems & Operations, Customer Engagement and is based out of our Whippany, NJ office and requires you to be on site 40-60% of the time.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, e Director of Business Systems & Operations Capabilities, are to:
- Shape the US Pharma field technology stack and annual capability roadmap in partnership with global Product Owners, focusing on but not limited to core platforms such as Vault CRM and integrated technologies;
- Lead the transformation of our customer engagement landscape by leveraging AI and innovative technologies to enhance field effectiveness and customer interactions;
- Collaborate with Commercial leaders, Medical teams, and franchise sales leaders to gather requirements, facilitate feedback, and identify opportunities for technology enhancements;
- Organize and lead fit-gap workshops with field leadership, marketing, and medical partners to assess and prioritize capability improvements;
- Advocate for and educate stakeholders on system capabilities that address key business needs; act as a change champion for new technology rollouts;
- Establish and maintain robust system testing processes, including SIT and UAT for all releases;
- Architect integrations and interfaces in collaboration with IT to support critical business processes (e.g., Promotional Events, Sampling), define SLAs, and establish operating models;
- Lead large-scale, cross-functional project teams for new capability or technology rollouts;
- Develop documentation and deliver training for new systems and capabilities as part of US Pharma-wide deployments;
- Serve as the primary business partner to IT for field hardware/software deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives and effective communication with field leaders;
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation and system complexity reduction across US and global business systems;
- Represent US-specific business requirements to global Product Owners for business systems and integrations;
- Champion the creation of a more cohesive and intuitive user experience as we build and evolve our customer engagement platform.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required;
- Experience, in the healthcare industry managing business and/or sales technology solutions (e.g., Salesforce, Veeva CRM, Vault CRM, etc);
- Proven ability to design IT solutions and system architectures;
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority;
- Experience establishing scalable, end-to-end business processes;
- Strategic mindset and proactive, collaborative approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ year of industry experience;
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience in agile methodologies preferred;
- Experience leveraging AI and digital technologies to drive business transformation is highly desirable.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $168,600 to $253,000.. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
