Director of Marketing, Congress and Thought Leader Engagement

One of our key late-stage pipeline assets, Asundexian, is an oral Factor XIa inhibitor (anti-thrombotic), and is a key asset being developed as a potential treatment for secondary stroke prevention in patients who have experienced a non-cardio-embolic ischemic stroke.
As the Director of Marketing, you are responsible for ensuring Bayer builds and maintains productive relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) by working closely with the Cardiovascular Regional Marketing Team and Area General Managers (AGMs). This includes coordinating the approach across the customer engagement and product teams as well as shaping the strategy, investments, and execution of all KOL activities including congresses (global, national, and regional), local programming, and advisory boards. You will own this work across concept, content, execution, assessment, and optimization.
This role will also lead the development and ongoing optimization of our speaker’s bureau and peer-to-peer programming, from strategy to execution and ongoing management, ensuring a tight collaboration with our customer engagement and product teams throughout.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shape the strategy, investments, and execution of all KOL and Peer-to-Peer activities including congresses and advisory boards, local programming, speaker’s bureau, and peer-to-peer engagements;
- Build and maintain productive KOL relationships and relationships with our speakers; coordinate the approach across the customer engagement team including AGMs, RADs, marketing, medical, and senior leaders;
- Work with the AGMs to lead the Cardiovascular Regional Marketing Team, setting objectives, priorities, building the culture, and holding the team accountable;
- Partner with area customer squads on the deployment of peer-to-peer engagements;
- Analyze key success metrics related to marketing programs to identify new opportunities and optimize performance;
- Maintain a high level of clinical and business acumen to ensure high impact with KOLs and speakers;
- Lead the relationship, priorities, execution, and budget management with key agency partners;
- Develop deep business and KOL insights to shape business strategy, priorities, and execution;
- Allocate resources to maximize business impact;
- Drive collaboration across all key stakeholders to ensure a One Bayer approach with KOLs;
- Remain patient-focused, operating in full compliance with US legal, medical, and regulatory requirements.
WHO YOU ARE:
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree;
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 4 years in Cardiovascular and/or Neurology therapeutic areas;
- Leadership with the ability to create strategic vision and inspire/mobilize teams;
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
- Field, people leadership, and marketing experience;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally both internally and with external partners;
- Compelling verbal and written communications;
- Willingness for travel (20% to 40%).
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or advanced degree;
- Prior experience in managing KOL relationships, conferences, and speaker bureaus;
- High level of interpersonal and intercultural skills;
- High degree of flexibility and commitment.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $175,360 - $263,040. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
