Senior Director, Incentives

As we advance our operating model towards Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) with an even stronger focus on customer oriented and mission-based work, the goal of the Incentives team is to shape and operationalize US Pharma Incentives for the Customer Engagement/Sales team as a key enabler to delivering on the revenue goal of $4BN by 2028.

 

The Senior Director, Incentives reports into the VP, Customer Engagement Field Operations and is responsible to set the Customer Engagement incentive strategy in a pay for performance culture, which includes the core and supplemental plan design, communication, execution, reporting, effectiveness, and awards programs (i.e. Pinnacle) across the entire Bayer Pharmaceutical Enterprise.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Director, Incentives, are to:

 

  • Work as a strategic Lead to the US Pharma Leadership team, shaping and operationalizing all Incentive and Field Awards Programs in alignment to overall US Pharma strategy and the Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) operating model, driving towards maximizing revenue potential for impactable sales driven by the sales team;
  • Lead and shape the priorities of a team of 4 and vendor partners who are collaborating directly with Customer Engagement and Product Squad leadership and are driving the TA specific incentive program design and day-to-day operational activities;
  • Advance DSO ways of working with a focus on driving aligned incentives across all members of the Customer Engagement Teams and cross functional partners like Market Access; actively participate in all Customer Missions/projects that align to the broad topic of incentives; continue to advance across US Pharma Area General Manager being responsible for net sales;
  • Design and communicate effectively the core incentive programs in alignment with product strategy and new ways of working;
  • Design and communicate effectively the Pinnacle Award, President’s Club, Supplemental Programs and Corporate Retention Programs, i.e. Performance and other performance enhancement programs;
  • Analyze the effectiveness of the incentive plans and report findings to Commercial and Finance leadership with the effort to continue to advance Incentives and optimize the costs of the Incentives programs;
  • Accountable for development and tracking Bayer incentive budget of 80MM, incl. providing accurate expense projections and accrual recommendations for finance, making recommendations to leadership on how to optimize spend on the Incentive programs, i.e., through pay curve, advanced quota setting, etc.;
  • Establish and maintain all Bayer Pharmaceuticals incentive policies and processes in partnership with the leadership team, HR and legal; ensure that the team is operating in accordance with the policies/processes and maintains documentation and maintain audit readiness;
  • Responsible for driving efficient Incentive operations, incl, incentives reporting (for field), strong processes with interdependent cross functions (i.e., to ensure data accuracy) and payroll processing;
  • Set business requirements for the incentive compensation technology needs and directs the research, procurement, development and innovation of the Bayer End to End platform;
  • Drive towards continuous innovation and improvement; review industry benchmarks to advance programs, drive operational efficiencies, anticipate future business needs and innovative solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required with demonstrated progressive leadership experience working in the Healthcare or related industry;
  • Experience in design, development, and execution of sales incentive plans in the healthcare or related industry required;
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive challenging conversations across senior stakeholders;
  • Must have the ability to distill complex analytics into effective and motivating messages for the field;
  • Solution oriented and ability to solve complex business challenges;
  • Passionate about innovating and advancing the role of incentives to drive a new operating model;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail;
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet short timelines;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality where appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience; or 8+ years of relevant experience with and advance degree, i.e. MS/MBA, preferred;
  • People leadership experience preferred with a passion to developing and coaching high performance teams;
  • Experience with downstream processes (i.e., data processing, reporting, etc.) preferred;
  • Consulting experience preferred;
  • Sales experience preferred.
