Modeling & Simulation Expert - Pharmacometrics (m/f/d)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about developing new medicines, harnessing the full potential of available data, and generating robust evidence to guide decision‑making? Join our Pharmacometrics (PMX) group and help advance Model‑Informed Drug Development (MIDD)!

Your modeling competence is at the heart of this role:

  • You address project‑critical questions using mathematical models and effectively transfer the methods, mindset, and tools you acquired during your PhD into pharmacometrics problem statements that directly inform development decisions
  • You can implement mathematical models, statistical analyses, data mining, and statistical learning methods in a scientific programming language
  • Together with experienced PMX specialists and colleagues from other modeling disciplines, you will work as part of a collaborative MIDD team and take end‑to‑end responsibility for PMX analyses across development phases—starting with data exploration, hypothesis formulation, model development and testing, statistical evaluation, and finally interpretation, communication, and reporting

WHAT YOU BRING

  • University degree and PhD in Life Sciences (e.g., Pharmacy/Medicine), Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics — with a strong focus on modeling and data analysis
  • Proven modeling and statistical competence from your PhD—for example model development, validation, uncertainty analysis, diagnostics, clear documentation, and reproducibility
  • Working knowledge of statistics and numerical optimization, with the willingness to deepen your understanding of pharmacology and PK/PD concepts
  • Strong ability to program scientific and analytical workflows, including data preparation, visualization, reproducible scripting, and implementation of model‑based methods
  • Curiosity, analytical strength, and motivation to grow into the PMX role
  • Initial exposure to population modeling (e.g., NONMEM/Monolix, nlmixr2/RxODE, mrgsolve) is helpful but not required
  • Fluent English (spoken and written). Interest in developing German language skills is an advantage

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A work environment where people genuinely enjoy collaborating. You will join a supportive, welcoming team that values open communication, mutual respect, and scientific curiosity
  • Entry into an established PMX/MIDD environment with mentoring from senior experts
  • Structured training in PMX methodology and toolchains (e.g., NONMEM, Monolix, PsN, mrgsolve, nlmixr2/RxODE)
  • Contribution to projects spanning multiple therapeutic areas and development phases

Our benefits package is flexible, appreciative, and tailored to your lifestyle, because: What matters to you, matters to us!

  • We ensure your financial stability through a competitive compensation package, consisting of an attractive base pay and our annual bonus. In addition, managers can recognize special contributions by granting an individual performance award or top performance award
  • Whether it’s hybrid work models or part-time arrangements: Whenever it is possible, you will have the flexibility to work how, when and where it is best for you
  • Your family is a top priority. We offer loving company daycare centers at multiple locations, support in finding childcare, time off for the care of elderly or dependent family members, summer camps for children, and much more
  • We support your professional growth by providing access to learning and development opportunities, training programs through the Bayer Learning Academy, development dialogues, as well as coaching and mentoring programs
  • We promote health awareness and opportunities for selfcare through various measures, such as free health checks with the company doctor
  • We embrace diversity by providing an inclusive work environment in which you are welcomed, supported, and encouraged to bring your whole self to work

Please send us your CV and a brief statement explaining how you would transfer your PhD modeling experience to pharmacometrics questions. We look forward to your application.
