Principal Scientist - Peptide Discovery Chemistry (all genders)

modality labs within Drug Discovery Sciences and we are seeking a creative, experienced and highly motivated (Senior) Principal scientist to join our
team in Wuppertal, Germany.
The Peptide Discovery Lab – leveraging its state-of-the-art synthesis platform - was founded with the mission to discover and develop new peptide-based
therapeutics and providing tool compounds and technologies to validate biological targets and pathway across all modalities in collaboration with the
drug discovery community.
We are a dynamic, highly motivated and diverse team that collaborates closely with the drug discovery community along the R&D value chain as well
as with our external partners. Our new operating model “Dynamic Shared Ownership” will allow you to generate maximum impact, focus on what is
important and innovate in an agile and collaborative way.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategically build and drive peptide and conjugate projects, from ideation through target validation to the identification of development
candidates - Design new chemical matter, generate SAR understanding, and apply your experience in interdisciplinary drug discovery teams
- Providing scientific leadership in interdisciplinary drug discovery teams, you share your knowledge with scientists and technical staff
- Supervising master’s students and postdocs
- Support and drive the development of our peptide discovery chemistry platform, focusing on modern synthetic methods, automation solutions,
and digital tools

- PhD in natural sciences, chemistry, or biochemistry with a focus on peptide synthesis and design
- Postdoctoral experience and industrial expertise with a proven track record in advancing drug candidates to clinical stage development including:
- Successful optimization of peptides, conjugates, glycopeptides, or peptidomimetic structures
- Design and synthesis of complex peptide-based building blocks
- Use of screening technologies to identify peptide-based lead structures
- Awareness and ability to work successfully in diverse, high-performing teams and to challenge the status quo
- Curiosity, creativity, and passion for drug discovery drive you, with the aim of transforming treatment paradigms for patients
- High learning agility and excellent self-organization skills
- Excellence at communicating and presenting scientific and technical data concisely
- Fluent English skills, with an interest in learning German
