Research Scientist - Peptide Discovery Chemistry (all genders) 

 

 

At Bayer we are committed to discover and develop new therapies to treat the untreatable, offer hope and cure disease. We continue to grow our novel modality labs within Drug Discovery Sciences and we are seeking a creative, experienced and highly motivated Research Scientist to join our team in Wuppertal, Germany. 
The Peptide Discovery Lab – leveraging its state-of-the-art synthesis platform - was founded with the mission to discover and develop new peptide-based therapeutics and providing tool compounds and technologies to validate biological targets and pathway across all modalities in collaboration with the drug discovery community. 
We are a dynamic, highly motivated and diverse team that collaborates closely with the drug discovery community along the R&D value chain as well as with our external partners. Our new operating model “Dynamic Shared Ownership” will allow you to generate maximum impact, focus on what is important and innovate in an agile and collaborative way

 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, synthesis of complex peptides, peptide conjugates, glycopeptides or peptidomimetic structures
  • Analyze complex data sets to generate understanding of structure-activity-relationships and ideas for optimization
  • Collaborate in interdisciplinary drug discovery teams
  • Provide your expertise in interdisciplinary drug discovery teams, sharing knowledge and experience with scientists and technical staff
  • Supervise students
  • Support and drive the development of our peptide discovery chemistry platform with regards to modern synthetic methods, state-of-the-art devices, automation solutions and digital tools

  • PhD in natural science, chemistry, or biochemistry with a focus on peptide design, synthesis, and purification
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: peptide conjugates, glycopeptides, peptidomimetics, complex building blocks for peptide synthesis, computational methods, programming, or data visualization
  • Profound knowledge in HPLC and mass spectrometry
  • Curiosity, creativity, and passion for drug discovery, aiming to transform patient treatment paradigms
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, delivering scientific and technical data clearly and consistently
  • High degree of self-organization and awareness of internal and external processes
  • Interest in lab automation and digitalization
  • Fluent in English, with a desire to learn German
