Senior Principal Scientist - Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (m/f/d) 

 

As a leader in the design, execution, and analysis of in vitro ADME assays, you will evaluate the biotransformation of new drug candidates. You will provide scientific expertise in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) to project teams, guiding them on ADME-related issues throughout the drug discovery and development process. Your role will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate DMPK strategies into project plans, ensuring alignment with overall drug optimization goals. You will also prepare and present scientific findings to stakeholders, contributing to strategic decision-making processes.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead matrix teams within a laboratory context
  • Provide scientific expertise in DMPK to project teams, offering guidance on ADME-related issues throughout the drug discovery and development process
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DMPK strategies into project plans, ensuring alignment with overall drug optimization goals
  • Prepare and present scientific findings to stakeholders, contributing to strategic decision-making processes
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of biotransformation processes and their implications for drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics; work with colleagues to enhance data collection and reporting practices, ensuring robust support for scientific research and development of new drug candidates
  • Drive innovation in assay development methodologies to improve the understanding of biotransformation and new molecules
  • Actively participate in project meetings, providing insights on DMPK topics and influencing project direction based on scientific evidence
  • Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the development of best practices in assay development and biotransformation studies

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in DMPK, with a focus on assay development in biotransformation, particularly metabolite identification from in vitro and in vivo studies; long-term experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Strong experience in high-resolution mass spectrometry and analytics
  • A solid background in drug discovery and development processes as well as scientific rigor, efficiency, and a strong organizational skill set
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of relevant methodologies and technologies for biotransformation studies
  • English fluent; verbally and in writing
