Position:

Row Crops ASIA Plant Health Pipeline Lead

Purpose:

To lead dedicated regional Plant Health teams in on-time delivering high‑quality plant health data and insights, acting as the primary Plant Health expert for regional product and technical units, and harmonizing Hub activities with the individuals embedded in local Product and Germplasm Units to ensure aligned priorities, coordinated execution, and strong regional technical support. While focusing on short-term deliveries (1-3 year timeframe), serves as a connector to hub leads and technical teams for relevant long-term talent & capability enablement.

Key tasks & responsibilities:

  • ordinate the delivery of regional Plant Health activities through dedicated teams, ensuring execution is aligned with the regional 1–3‑year horizon.
  • Ensure on‑time, high‑quality delivery of Plant Health data and insights to support breeding decisions and product advancement.
  • Serve as the primary Plant Health Capability Center point of contact for regional Product and Technical Units, maintaining continuous alignment on needs, priorities, and changing disease landscapes. Point person to connect regional product units to appropriate plant health expertise and capabilities fit to regional and global project needs.
  • Harmonize tasks and workflows between the Plant Health Capability Center  and the individuals embedded in local Product and Germplasm Units, ensuring coherent planning, communication, and execution across all groups.
  • Translate regional objectives into clear deliverables for Plant Health  teams, ensuring consistent understanding of goals and roles across the organization.
  • Monitor progress of all Plant Health deliverables, proactively identifying risks, removing barriers, and adjusting plans when needed.
  • Maintain strong operational coordination between regions, ensuring that methods, data quality, and reporting standards are consistent and aligned.
  • Provide regional leadership with regular updates on disease trends, data readiness, and technical risks that may impact breeding or market timelines.
  • Foster collaboration with global Plant Health experts, Hubs, and cross‑functional technical teams to share insights, align approaches, and strengthen disease‑management strategies.
  • Support continuous improvement in workflows, data pipelines, and phenotyping processes to increase efficiency and technical consistency across the region.

Qualifications & competencies:

  • PhD with minimum 5 years, MS with minimum 10 years, BS with minimum 15 years relevant experience in Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding or related fields​.
  • Proven expertise in plant disease biology, phenotyping, and interpretation of plant health data.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating technical deliverables across regions or multi‑site teams.
  • Strong ability to align and harmonize Hub tasks with individuals embedded in local Product and Germplasm Units.
  • Effective collaborator with experience partnering closely with product and technical units to translate priorities into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities, ensuring on‑time delivery and clarity across diverse stakeholders.
  • A role model in VACC behaviors, and act as a ONE Team leader​
  • Digital & data fluency: proficient on core digital tools and workflows; coach of key data literacy and IP/Governance principles; able to critically assess analytics and AI outputs from a business point of view; cost‑aware use of digital resources.
  • Information management & collaboration: Cross‑functional digital collaboration, active socialization of information across the enterprise and beyond their own ‘team’, visionary and catalyst of digital and AI adoption
