Senior AI Engineer 

The Mission 

Enterprise data is everywhere – locked in databases, buried in PDFs, scattered across unstructured documents, and hidden in siloed systems. You will be at the heart of Bayer Consumer Health‘s most ambitious AI initiative: building a suite of intelligent, production-grade AI solutions that make data and documents accessible, queryable, and actionable for everyone in the organization. From conversational interfaces over complex enterprise data, to AI pipelines that parse documents and extract structured meaning from chaos – you will design, experiment with, and ship systems that genuinely change how a global consumer health company operates. This is a greenfield, research-meets-engineering role, and the architectural decisions you make will echo across commercial, marketing, product supply, and R&D domains worldwide. 

Who You Are & What You‘ll Do 

The Agentic AI Builder: You design and implement multi-agent AI systems in Python – routers, planners, verifiers, supervisors – and you know when to add complexity and, crucially, when not to. You build composable, plug-and-play agent architectures using LangGraph and LangChain that can evolve as LLM capabilities advance and business needs shift. 

The Document Intelligence Engineer: You turn unstructured chaos into structured gold. You build AI pipelines that parse PDFs, Word documents, images, and mixed-format files – extracting, normalizing, and validating structured information at scale. You know your way around OCR, document layout models, and LLM-powered extraction chains. 

The RAG Architect: You know that great AI answers live or die by the quality of context retrieval. You design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines over both unstructured document corpora and structured metadata – business glossaries, data dictionaries, and enterprise knowledge bases – applying dynamic filtering and re-ranking to stay accurate without blowing token budgets. 

The Text-to-SQL Specialist: You are deeply familiar with the challenges of natural language to SQL generation – ambiguous questions, multi-turn conversations, schema linking, self-correction loops, and context injection. You build conversational data interfaces that are accurate within defined scope and degrade gracefully outside it. 

The Evaluator: You instrument everything. You build automated regression testing frameworks, support A/B testing of LLM configurations, and integrate human feedback loops to drive continuous quality improvement across all AI products you ship. 

The Business Partner: You speak both Python and business. You engage closely with stakeholders across commercial, marketing, product supply, and R&D to deeply understand their problems before writing a single line of code. You know that the best AI solution is the one that solves a real business problem – and you take pride in bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI engineering and tangible business value. 

The Platform Builder: You don‘t just solve one problem – you build reusable frameworks, components, and libraries that accelerate the entire AI engineering team. You manage production-grade code in GitHub, perform peer reviews, and contribute meaningfully to architectural decisions including framework and technology stack selection. 

What You Bring  

•  Strong Python engineering with production-grade Generative AI system experience 
•  Hands-on experience with LangGraph and/or LangChain for multi-agent and agentic AI systems 
•  Experience building RAG pipelines over both structured and unstructured data (e.g. LightRAG) 
•  Solid understanding of and practical experience with Text-to-SQL solutions 
•  Strong API development and integration capabilities (e.g. FastAPI) 
•  Proficiency with Azure cloud services (Azure Apps, Containers, Storage) and/or AWS equivalents 
•  Experience with relational and vector databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, pgvector, MS SQL) and Docker containerization 
•  Business-oriented mindset – ability to translate real business challenges into well-scoped AI use cases, communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, and ensure delivered solutions drive measurable business impact 
•  Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, production-first engineering mindset 
•  5+ years of experience in AI Engineering, Software Engineering, or Machine Learning Engineering 
•  Fluent in English, both written & spoken 

Nice-to-Have 

• Experience with document parsing, unstructured-to-structured data extraction pipelines 
• Hands-on experience with Databricks: Unity Catalogue, Genie Spaces and Agent Bricks 
• Experience with LLM context and prompt engineering 
• Experience with AI observability, evaluation frameworks, and automated testing (e.g. Langfuse) 
• Knowledge of Model Context Protocol for tool integration 
• Understanding of CI/CD principles, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM Templates) 
• Understanding of semantic layer and data management concepts for enterprise data
